As an immigration law advocate, Robert Hunter provides LGBT-friendly legal services in New York. If you need assistance, reach out to this experienced New York immigration attorney.
I began my journey as a New York immigration attorney in 2004, a time when HIV+ individuals faced a ban from entering the US, same-sex couples lived in exile due to the lack of marriage equality, and the gender markers on passports and IDs did not accurately represent our transgender clients. My practice included providing LGBT-friendly legal services to corporate clients seeking to bring talent from around the world, particularly in facilitating visa applications for their same-sex domestic partners. Additionally, I dedicated time to pro-bono cases addressing the troubling issue of "notarios" preying on my community.
Today, the HIV ban has been lifted, the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) has been overturned, and the process of obtaining correct gender markers on IDs has become less cumbersome. However, with ongoing efforts to roll back these hard-won achievements, our team of immigration law advocates stands ready to defend our clients' rights. We invite you to join us in this important journey.
